I am not sure I understand. You can change many of the CC images with the right license. And duplicate content, I think Google does not punish you for using an image twice, and it is not clear they even punish us much for duplicate content. They just do not rate the copy very highly.

But if you just use all your own images, then that would also be fine

Maybe i’m too sensitive, but I’m not sure that using CC images are good for our website. I think even that use any image from the network is not a good idea without little changing. We must remember that google penalize for duplicate content, and also for duplicate pictures.

I found your website through Adrienne Smith’s comments and have always been interesting in making sure I select the right photos without getting into trouble so this article jumped out at me.

I’ve been using Free Digital Photos which allows us to as long as you link back to the image and the website, noting the author/creator’s name. So far, it’s been good for me, but will definitely dig deeper with what you have supplied here.

There are lots of places to find the Creative Common pictures but most of the bloggers end up in taking the copyright images. And many times they forgot to mention the author the author that leads to another conflict. I always mention them and choose my images carefully.

Thanks for sharing this information. I didn’t know about these terms before and it’s good to know when you’re using the free images for your blog. I’ve been paying for mines this year, but at times I want to save that money 😉

I think we are always trying to find great places to find images that of course we are allowed to use. Whether they are free or paid services, I definitely believe in giving credit where credit is due. I’m not very creative so my images are not my own.

I’ve heard of the places you’ve listed here and I have a whole list of them loaded up. I’m always trying to find the best images and I don’t always succeed but having places to go that I haven’t found yet, well I’m always searching for those too.

No need to give up on Google though. You can filter your Google image search by license rights. Go into Images => Search Tools => License Rights. Google will give you different options of license rights to filter your search results.

You can also filter your Flickr results by license rights from within Flickr. Go to Advanced Search and then choose the license rights you need so you only get search results you want to see.

I agree, it’s a hassle to find a perfect image, only to find that the license rights don’t fit your needs. Sometimes you can ask the image owner and they will grant you rights anyway.

I am like you, I tend to modify my images so I have to use these Google and Flickr search filters so I don’t have to manually sort through my search results.
