I made a few mistakes on my list and continue to learn everyday. Hopefully others can learn from the mistakes i made and use a mail service that is best for them. There are lots of options, but I think most people settle on MailChimp or Aweber. It is hard to decide on the best, and I see the benefits of your choice, but I just wanted to get it over with and choose what the pros were using. So far I am very happy, even if I am poorer in terms of money.

I have never heard of this mad mimi service but mailchimp is definitely a VERY good option for a small (or not so small) blog with whatever size emailing list. Like someone in the previous comments said, i too have autoresponders in MailChimp for free – but i am a user for 3 or 4 years now – it used to be free so i guess it continues to be free for old-time users.

I have used a couple of other tools, too (ConstantContact and iContact) but what i like the most about MailChimp pricing is that you can go with monthly fees (like Aweber and many other email marketing tools out there) but you can also go somewhat prepaid – which is ideal if you have a small list now but plan to grow it in the future, continuously. This way, you pay less than the monthly fee but still have “credits” to send out autoresponders when needed. Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks for dropping by and clarifying. It’s always great to hear from the horses’s mouth so to speak. It was not that I did not like Mad Mimi, because I used it for quite a while and found the interface easy to use. I simply changed to Aweber so that I could use all the crazy features they offer and mix with the pros :>

Thanks for the lovely writeup! You’re totally right that Mad Mimi is focused on simplicity, and that the Free Plan has some limitations when it comes to our extra features like Autoresponders.

I did wanna mention that there’s a feature available on all plans (even free accounts) called “Signup IPs.” That feature, when enabled, tracks signup dates, times, and IPs for all your new webform signups. It might not be exactly what you were looking for (those dates don’t show on the main audience page), but I figured it was worth mentioning!

What if we are using Double Optin with Mailchimp? (I am not sure whether Mailchimp supports single optin; I don’t remember it). Were you using Double optin with Mailchimp?

Hmm, they should probably try to improve the transfer services (Google and Yahoo are competitors, but the move from one to other is seamless…well almost).

You are right about that. It does give us a good opportunity to filter out the inactive subscribers (Sure, we lose the numbers. But, quality is better than quantity).

Aweber combined with Hybrid connect are really a pro way to get more subscribers. I got 5 already yesterday. yay

Of course Lorraine, the money can be draining. But don’t make the same mailing list mistake as me :> try to get on mailchimp now and put the subscribe form they make in your text widget (just copy the HTML they give – that is all).
You will need to inform your list (probably) to opt-in to your mail chimp list. Most providers require this as an anti-spam initiative.
